Experience

I had the pleasure of spending a week at The Fence Magazine in April 2024 as an editorial assistant.
I assisted with editorial tasks including contacting sources, compiling information, and... finding out the cost of a coffee and a croissant in every cafe in Soho!
I also had a go at editing newsletter content, coming up with article ideas, and filtering pitches.

I very much enjoyed spending time on the news desk at The Bookseller in December 2023. I wrote 26 stories during my time there, predominantly covering rights deals.
My highlight was working on a story about Faber's regional cover of Helen Rebanks' The Farmer's Wife.

It was so much fun to work on City's journalism alumni magazine, XCity, as deputy features editor!
I commissioned writers, came up with pitch ideas, edited copy and also assisted in the sub-editing process.

I was previously Print Editor of RAZZ Magazine, a post I held from April 2021 to June 2022. During my time in this role I oversaw and edited the print content of the magazine, as well as working with the rest of the print team to produce content calls, shape the design of the magazine and collaborate with others to ensure that the content we were producing was interesting to our largely student-based readership. I also ran frequent writing workshops and aimed to encourage more writers than ever before to try out journalism for the first time.

We released our first edition under my editorship (the TOGETHER edition) in September of 2021, followed by NOURISH in December 2021, DISCOVER in April 2022, and TRANSFORM in June 2022, and you can read them all at the link below.

Before this I was the magazine's Outreach Officer, which involved organising interviews and events with speakers. As part of this role I invited journalist Daisy Griffith (head of TV and online news for BBC South West) to speak on her career, and helped writers link up with interviewees.
